Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to own, improve, and support the systems that keep our business running. This role will manage core infrastructure across servers, cloud services, networks, identity, security, backups, and end-user technology. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, and comfortable solving complex issues while helping shape long-term infrastructure decisions.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including patching, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.
- Manage Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Azure AD, Exchange Online, Intune, and related identity and access-management services.
- Maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, switches, wireless access points, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- Support cloud infrastructure and services across AWS, Azure, or similar platforms.
- Implement and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
- Monitor system availability, security events, and infrastructure performance; troubleshoot escalated incidents and root causes.
- Manage endpoint security, anti-malware, vulnerability remediation, and patch-management processes.
- Lead infrastructure projects such as system upgrades, migrations, automation, and new technology rollouts.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, standards, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Partner with security, development, and business teams to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable.
- Mentor junior IT staff and provide technical guidance for complex support issues.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive system administration or infrastructure support experience.
- Strong experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and routing.
- Experience supporting cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, endpoint management, and security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, VMware VCP, or similar.
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience with Intune, Jamf, SCCM, or other endpoint-management platforms.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI, or other compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting SaaS applications, CI/CD infrastructure, or DevOps tooling.
